In the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, Marcia C. Smith reports "History lends the Lakers, who are down 3-2 in the best-of-7 NBA Finals, the word never. Only eight teams in NBA history have rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win a seven-game playoff series, but no team has ever done it to win an NBA championship. What the Lakers are trying, hoping and praying to do, beginning with Game 6 on Tuesday night at Boston's TD Banknorth Garden, has never been done. Never. Never ever. But why can't the Lakers put history over their collective knee and snap it in half?"
